Currently, the largest coordination challenge within the design and construction field is the ever-increasing amount of information that is generated and shared by a large number of experts involved in a project. The responsibility of architects and engineers is large, the complexity of projects is growing, and the need for timely communication and access to information is therefore crucial. As professions, architecture, and construction lag behind in this sense - plans are delivered in large folders, information is recorded on paper in various formats and it is extremely difficult to be sure of the timeliness and accuracy of the data - this information needs to be digitized.
Email is not an efficient tool that can be used to manage so much information effectively. As a result, the need for new tools, additional software, and various applications that allow for the opening of new profiles with various restrictions on use is performed on different software platforms. All these different pieces of software have to be learned by the user. Participants on a project are overwhelmed with emails, writing minutes and reports, answering phone calls, finding information logged arbitrarily on a server, resending and explaining details, or forwarding information that has already existed in a previous email or set of minutes ... the collaboration process is interrupted and mistakes become inevitable. Things get even more complicated on international projects, where participants are not in the same country and do not speak the same language.

The VOLUM3 platform was the result of enthusiastic and proactive energy in solving the real needs of an architectural office - solving the communication problems that arise during design and construction. The development of the platform began in 2016 by a professional team of developers and architects and is intended for architects, builders, investors, and other stakeholders in construction projects.
VOLUM3 is a startup, which raised initial funds from European funds, the EBRD, and 3LHD partners.
This unique collaboration tool currently has more than 1,400 active users, allowing them to manage projects quickly and easily and allowing full transparency while managing deadlines, tasks, and responsibilities with each project's individual collaborators. Data is stored in the cloud, always available and secure. Each module of the platform is a digital version of the current workflow processes - all aspects are project-related. It does not require the user to adapt to a new way of working - the workflow process remains the same. Active modules are Plans, Tasks, Meetings, Specifications, and the BoQ module is still under development. The Product Catalog module was presented at the ArhiBau conference on Friday, October 8.
The reference projects on which the VOLUM3 platform was used are Infobip Campus, Rimac Campus, Hotel Westin, Hotel Marjan, Park Kneževa.
As it stands today, VOLUM3 has become the preferred solution and is recognizable by more than 400 domestic and international companies and among them brings together more than 1,400 architects, contractors, sub-contractors, and manufacturers who use VOLUM3 on a daily basis. VOLUM3 gives all stakeholders the possibility of connecting with each other, recognition, and a direct invitation to collaborate on the project.
