On November 14, 2024, Urania hosted the event ＂Sustainable hour: Sustainability of Industrial Buildings＂. The focus was on adapting industrial spaces to meet new ecological standards and sustainability goals. Guests included architects from Belgrade and representatives from Prostoria, who shared innovative approaches to transforming industrial spaces into sustainable environments.
 

Marko Matejić and Nikola Ivković, founders of the Belgrade-based architectural studio ＂Main Architects＂, alongside their female colleagues, shared their experiences in transforming industrial buildings into functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces. They emphasized how these structures can be seamlessly integrated into urban areas, leveraging innovative technologies to reduce energy consumption and resource usage. 

Architect Iva Šilović, representing Prostoria, discussed sustainable design innovations, focusing on the use of recycled and natural materials. She introduced the new Buffa collection, which harmonizes ecology and aesthetics by incorporating eco-friendly materials. This collection exemplifies the balance between functionality and ecological responsibility, reflecting the principles of sustainability in modern design.

One of the key moments of the event was the discussion on the importance of involving the community in designing industrial buildings. Participants emphasized that sustainability extends beyond ecological approaches to include social responsibility, creating spaces that enhance community life while providing economic benefits. 

The event also brought attention to technological innovations enabling sustainability in industrial buildings. Experts highlighted the use of green facades and smart heating and cooling systems. Additionally, they focused on the digitalization of design processes through BIM technology, which improves precision and efficiency while reducing costs during construction and maintenance. 

In conclusion, this event emphasized the importance of different fields and technologies working together in building sustainable industrial objects. This event has provided detailed insight into how industrial buildings can become part of the solution for the future by using smart technologies and ecological materials.
